iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing transparency, credibility, and independence in journalism. It was founded in 2018 through the exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Join Our Communications Department 

As a Community Relations Manager at iMEdD, you will be an integral part of our dynamic Communications Department and report to the Communications and Marketing Director. Our team is committed to amplifying our message through effective communication strategies, community engagement, and media outreach. 

Job Description 

At iMEdD, our dedication to the journalistic community is profound, and we are in search of a Community Relations Manager to play a pivotal role in maintaining and fostering these relationships. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organizational, communication, and digital skills, coupled with the ability to foster positive connections with individuals and organizations. The Community Relations Manager will be the expert in understanding our community, actively engaging with them, and driving its further growth. 

Objectives of this role 

  • Develop a strategy for creating content and implementing activities that will result in further engaging the community. 
  • Establish and sustain relationships with members of the community, key individuals, and other organizations. 

Responsibilities 

  • Community engagement: maintain and grow journalistic community through digital platforms (website, social media, email marketing) and offline channels.  
  • Media outreach: nurture and maintain profound media relations securing organic publicity for or initiated by iMEdD. 
  • Metrics & reporting: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to community engagement, providing regular reports to inform & make strategic decisions. 
  • Participate in creating relevant communications content that promotes the organization, its content & programs. 
  • Organize community outreach initiatives and coordinate special events that promote programs, content, and the mission of the organization. 
  • Attend relevant events and activities to build strong relationships with key community members. 
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed. 

Required skills and qualifications 

  • Five to seven years of experience in public relations, community management, digital marketing or related field 
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or relevant field 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Greek & English) 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a team  
  • Proficiency with work productivity software or similar writing and presentation software 

Preferred skills and qualifications 

  • Previous Experience in Nonprofit Environments: Candidates with prior experience in nonprofit settings will be valued for their familiarity with the unique dynamics of such environments. 
  • Interest in Journalism, the Future of the Industry, & Investigative Stories: We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a genuine passion for journalism, a keen curiosity about the future of the industry, and an enthusiasm for engaging with investigative stories. A strong interest in these areas will contribute to the candidate’s alignment with the values and objectives of our organization.
