#44 SNF DIALOGUES

The Return to Public Space: A discussion about coexistence, respect, and democracy.

Inspired by a renaissance of interest in public space due primarily to the repeated lockdowns imposed by the pandemic, the June DIALOGUES event attempted to redefine the relationship between citizens, community, and public space, on Wednesday June 30 2021 at 20:00, at Antonis Tritsis Metropolitan Park Open Theater.

The DIALOGUES discussion addressed this broad social and political issue at a time when being able to coexist in outdoor spaces is more crucial than ever. Issues of exclusion and financial exploitation of public space, the need for equality, accessibility and the protection of culture, sociological and environmental implications; and the concept of mutual respect in the civic sphere were all featured in this discussion on the big bet society is making on public space—effectively a big bet on democracy.

The SNF DIALOGUES discussions are held through journalism nonprofit iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development) and curated by Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou.
