4-month internship for journalists at iMEdD

We announce two internship positions at iMEdD as part of the new cycle of paid internships of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Two young candidates will have the opportunity to work at the organization for 4 months and gain knowledge and experience in the following roles:

Journalist / 1 position

iMEdD’s journalists are creating the organization’s own journalistic content in various formats (podcasts, text, video & photojournalism). Our stories are created following best practices on storytelling, fact-checking, production and investigation and address journalists -who are the organization’s core community, but also the public. They work in teams or individually, to suggest and implement impactful journalistic content that is published through our own media channels and shared with news organizations in Greece and around the world.

Ideal participants will have a close relationship with journalism, understand the basics of creating content, are up-to-date with fresh formats and are familiar with content production. An experience in podcast creation, as well as good written and oral language skills in English and Greek are desirable.

Data Journalist / 1 position

iMEdD Lab is the data unit of iMEdD, which produces original data-driven journalistic stories and data journalism-related content, including methodologies, datasets, and articles on tools that are useful to journalists who wish to integrate data in their work. Its mission is to promote data journalism both to the public and within the journalism community.

Ideal participants will be senior journalism students or graduates of journalism studies or professional journalists who have data skills and knowledge of data handling tools/techniques and wish to develop them further for data journalism purposes. Good use of spreadsheets for data processing/data analysis and online/open tools for data visualizations is needed. The use of Python and other coding competencies will be considered a plus. Good written and oral language skills in English and in Greek are desirable.
