Submit Your Work: 2026 European Press Prize Open for Entries

Are you a journalist based in Europe or working for a European media outlet? Have you published work between December 2024 and December 2025 that you’re proud of?

Submissions are now open for the 2026 European Press Prize, one of Europe’s most prestigious awards for excellence in journalism. Journalists from across the continent are invited to submit their work by 14 December 2025, 23:59 CET

Eligible entrants include journalists from all 46 Council of Europe member states, as well as Belarus and Russia, and those with European nationality or working for a European media outlet. Entries must have been published between 1 December 2024 and 31 December 2025.

The Prize will be awarded in five categories:

  • Distinguished Reporting
  • Investigative Reporting
  • Innovation
  • Migration Journalism
  • Public Discourse

Each category recognises journalistic work that exemplifies courage, originality, and impact across a variety of pressing topics and formats. For the Public Discourse Award, up to three pieces may be submitted per person; for all other categories, only one entry is allowed per person.

All submissions must primarily consist of written journalism, accompanied by an English translation, even if machine-generated. Entries must not exceed 5,000 words.

Entries involving the use of AI tools must be transparent and ethically produced. Submissions can also be made on behalf of a journalist for safety or logistical reasons.
