Our main issue was accessibility. We had to go there again and again, request access, get people to open up.”

Director Marianna Economou and Photographer Myrto Papadopoulos, join forces with producer Rea Apostolidou towards a multimedia project.

The focus is Elefsina, European Capital of Culture for 2023, that reveals its modern mysteries to the creators.

Their cameras turn to the eerie setting of the abandoned shipwrecks at its bottom, and the smoke from the factory chimneys, in its sky.

After many months of investigation and persistent visits, they manage to get close to the local community, capturing the present and sketching the future of a once sacred city.
