Kostas Koukoumakas

Kostas Koukoumakas is a professional journalist based in Athens, Greece. He studied Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked as a reporter for the major Greek daily TA NEA from 2008 until 2013. He has been working for VICE since 2014 covering Criminal Justice and Politics in Greece and the Balkans. Publications in the BBC News, Guardian, DIE ZEIT, Balkan Insight, Goethe-Institute Magazine. Nominated for the European Press Prize /The Investigative Reporting Award 2017 (team work). He won the EU Migration Media Award 2019.
He also took part at iMEdD’s incubator 2nd cycle, as well as at the multiformat journalistic project parontes.imedd.org.
