Over the past year, YOJO—an experimental incubator designed to simulate a newsroom environment and equip young journalists with the latest tools, practices, and ethical frameworks—has been under development by iMEdD as a natural extension of our broader work.
Any experiment is a step into the unknown, and YOJO—multifaceted and ambitious in its complexity—has certainly been a foray into uncharted territory. As we’ve navigated this phase, we have encountered unexpected operational realities and new strategic considerations that make it necessary to adapt and adjust.
In this context, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone the launch of YOJO.
This pause allows us to revisit some core elements of the program. The updated version of YOJO will be reworked to reflect our long-term vision more clearly: to provide a meaningful incubator experience for recent graduates and to better prepare emerging journalists for future ventures.
We deeply appreciate the interest, trust, and enthusiasm shown by all applicants and community members. Updates on YOJO’s next steps will be shared as soon as they are available.
