Road Accidents, A Silent Pandemic

by Vasilis Alexiou, Sokratis Moutidis, Paraskevas Perakis

Road accidents remain one of the most serious road safety challenges in Greece, with significant social and economic consequences.

In this short video, participating journalists focused on their respective regions — Crete (Chania), Western Macedonia (Kozani), and Thessaly (Trikala) — to investigate the main causes behind traffic accidents. Their goal was to decode the regional landscape while also taking a broader view, examining factors such as driving behavior, the condition of road infrastructure, weather conditions, local GDP, education levels, and other critical indicators.

*The short video will soon be published by a Greek local media outlet.
