iMEdD (Incubator for Media Education and Development) is excited to announce new fellowships for journalists based in Greece to attend the Global Investigative Journalism Conference 2025 (#GIJC25), which will take place from November 20–24, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Selected participants will join a cohort of 20 iMEdD Fellows at GIJC from around the world, in collaboration with the Global Investigative Journalism Nework (GIJN).
Moreover, the iMEdD GIJC fellows will receive exclusive one-day-long training by GIJN and iMEdD Ideas Zone, on the pre-conference day (November 20th).

As part of its ongoing collaboration with the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), iMEdD is offering 20 full fellowships for journalists to attend #GIJC25. The conference is the world’s largest international gathering of investigative and data journalists, organized every two years by GIJN. Among the fellowships, 5 are designated for journalists living and working in Greece. Applications are now open. The remaining 15 fellows have already been selected through GIJN’s international call earlier this year, representing regions across four continents.
The iMEdD GIJC Fellowship covers:
- Round-trip travel expenses to Kuala Lumpur
- Hotel accommodation during the conference
- Full conference registration fees
#GIJC25 Fellowship Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to full-time print, online, television, video, radio, documentary, and multimedia journalists based in Greece;
- Experience in investigative or data journalism a plus;
- We prioritize journalists that refer to the Greek audience and/or work for Greek media
Requirements for Fellows:
Following the conference, fellows are expected to either:
- Produce a story inspired by #GIJC25, or
- Share their experience through a presentation to colleagues or the broader journalism community.

#GIJC25 is expected to feature over 150 expert-led sessions, including:
- Cutting-edge workshops on online investigations and cross-border collaboration
- Strategies for working in repressive environments or in exile
- Sessions on the use of satellites, AI, climate data, and investigative tools
- Unmatched networking opportunities with journalists from over 100 countries
All applicants must have a working knowledge of English, as all conference activities will be held in English.
This isn’t the first time iMEdD has supported GIJC. In 2023, 20 iMEdD Fellows from a diverse range of countries including Albania, Bolivia, Chile, Comoros, Ecuador, Greece, Honduras, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Montenegro, Nigeria, Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina attended #GIJC23, building cross-border relationships and amplifying their impact through international dialogue and collaboration.
