A Discussion on Road Safety Awareness

iMEdD will participate in the 13th Chania International Film Festival, with Nikos Aronis, Senior Programs Manager and Journalist at iMEdD, joining the discussion following the screening of the video report titled “Road Accidents, A Silent Pandemic.”

Developed through iMEdD’s Incubator for Local Journalism in Greece, the video report by Vasilis Alexiou, Sokratis Moutidis, and Paraskevas Perakis explores the causes and consequences of road accidents across Greece, using data, local stories, and investigative reporting to shed light on this critical public issue.

This side event will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00, at the Cultural Center of Chania

The discussion following the screening will feature Nikolas Aronis, Senior Programs Manager and Journalist at iMEdD; Dr. Antonis Krasoudakis, Director of the Neurosurgery Clinic at Chania General Hospital; and Paraskevas Perakis, Director of the newspaper Haniotika Nea and member of the project team.

The session, which will also be attended by middle and high school students from Crete, aims to promote open dialogue on road safety, awareness, and prevention through the screening of a video report and a discussion. These activities form part of the targeted awareness-raising initiatives of the 13th Chania Film Festival, highlighting the role of journalism in prevention and in raising awareness among young people.

Its program also includes screenings, exhibitions, masterclasses, publications, tributes, and a rich selection of films and workshops for the educational community
