A Discussion on Critical Humanitarian Missions

iMEdD will participate in the Humanity Reloaded Festival 2025, with Kostas Koukoumakas, journalist at iMEdD, moderating the session titled “Gaza – Sudan: Voices from the Two Largest Armed Conflicts of the Decade.” The discussion will shed light on the experiences of humanitarian organizations operating in some of the most violent and prolonged conflicts in recent years.

The session will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 17:30 to 19:00, at the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation Conference Center (22 Kidathineon Street, Plaka – former Cine Paris).

Kostas Koukoumakas, with experience covering the refugee crisis in Greece and the Balkans, and having served as editor-in-chief of iMEdD’s special report on the Arms Depots of the Middle East, will lead and moderate the discussion.

Participants in the discussion will include Nikolas Papachrysostomou, Head of Emergency Interventions, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), Giorgos Petropoulos, Senior Humanitarian Affairs Officer, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Gaza and Ammar Ahmed, Head of Emergency Response in Sudan, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders)

As professionals with direct field experience in Gaza and Sudan, they will share firsthand testimonies: the daily reality of hospitals under attack, the lack of access to basic care, the constant threats faced by healthcare workers, and the widespread violations of international laws protecting civilians and medical facilities.

Organized for the second consecutive year by Médecins Sans Frontières Greece, the Humanity Reloaded Festival aims to bring the concept of solidarity back to the forefront — as action, not just theory — through open dialogue, artistic expression, and active public participation.

The festival program also includes a screening of the film “Safe House,” a photo exhibition featuring stories of women from Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, virtual Reality (VR) screenings, and parallel activities and open workshops.

Participation is free and open to all.
