iMEdD (Incubator for Media Education and Development) is seeking to fill a Senior Programs Coordinator position in the Organization’s Programs Department. The mission of this role is to coordinate, schedule, and oversee programs and initiatives that support journalism and the journalistic community internationally and across all of iMEdD’s pillars.
The ideal candidate will combine solid journalistic experience with proven project and program management skills in an international context. They will be able to conceptualize and structure programs, manage timelines and budgets, coordinate with multiple internal teams and external partners, and ensure high-quality implementation and follow-up. In short, the ideal candidate is someone who can turn ideas into well-run, impactful programs for journalists and media professionals internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Programs coordination, monitoring and reporting
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and day-to-day management of specific programs (e.g., training series, events, incubator cycles, fellowships, and collaborations), as well as their integration within the yearly schedule and in line with iMEdD’s mission and strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the Programs Department and with other iMEdD teams (e.g., Communications, Operations) to ensure alignment and synergy across projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed workplans, timelines, and budgets for assigned programs, working closely with Program Managers and the Operations Department.
- Monitor progress against objectives, deliverables, timelines and budgets for assigned programs.
- Prepare internal updates and contribute to narrative and financial reporting in collaboration with the relevant teams.
- Help maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation related to programs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes for program planning and implementation.
- Contribute to the design and refinement of programs across iMEdD’s pillars (Incubator, Ideas Zone, Out of the Box, etc.).
Partnerships & international collaborations
- Liaise with journalists, trainers, experts, and partner organizations internationally.
- Coordinate collaborations and cross-border activities linked to iMEdD programs.
- Support the cultivation of new partnerships and the nurturing of existing ones together with the Director of Programs & Strategy.
Content & events
- Work closely with colleagues across Programs and other departments (e.g., Content, Communications) to ensure that program activities are properly curated, communicated, and documented.
- Contribute to the production and coordination of events, workshops, and public activities related to the programs (e.g., sessions at iMEdD International Journalism Forum or other program-linked events).
Candidate Profile
Required qualifications:
- Previous professional journalistic experience.
- Proven experience in program and/or project coordination, ideally in the fields of journalism, media development, or civil society.
- Experience working with international partners, networks, or collaborations.
- Excellent command of the Greek language (written and oral).
- Excellent command of the English language (written and oral).
- Strong organizational skills and comfort handling multiple programs and timelines in parallel.
- Familiarity with the contemporary journalism landscape and the challenges and opportunities facing the field today (e.g., investigative journalism, media innovation, data and digital tools, new models of support).
- Ease in working with digital tools for project and content management (collaborative docs, spreadsheets, online platforms, etc.).
Desirable qualifications (highly valued):
- Experience in designing or coordinating training programs, fellowships, or similar initiatives.
- Prior experience in independent and/or non-profit media/journalistic environments.
- Experience in drafting budgets and program reporting.
- Experience working in or with cross-border or multilingual teams.
- Ability to coordinate with content, communications, or events teams to align program activities and their public presence.
