Guided by the European Charter on Freedom of the Press, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) works to protect and defend media freedom across Europe. By bringing together initiatives, organisations, and advocates, ECPMF amplifies voices calling for press freedom and ensure they are heard where it matters most. It promotes media freedom, pluralism, and access to high-quality journalism—cornerstones of informed public debate and democratic decision-making.
Serving as a platform and coordinating body, ECPMF connects the often-fragmented media freedom community, linking diverse actors to create greater impact. Its legal status allows us the centre operate in all 27 EU member states.
Together with its partners, ECPMF strives for a Europe where journalists can work freely, without fear or interference.
