Discussion on Algorithmic Accountability at reworks agora

iMEdD is participating in this year’s reworks agora on Sunday, May 25, in Thessaloniki, with a discussion dedicated to one of the most pressing issues of our time: the role of algorithms in shaping our perception of the world, and how journalists can — and must — hold them accountable.

At 11:00, at Ypsilon, Joanna Kao (Senior AI Editor, Pulitzer Center) talks to Kelly Kiki (Data Editor, iMEdD) about transparency and accountability, and presents journalistic research that reinforces them – in a one-on-one meeting entitled: Algorithms and Platforms: Power, Bias, and the Role of Journalists in Auditing

How do algorithms influence critical decisions in the public and private sectors?
Who controls the systems that shape our social experiences?
And what role can journalism play in this equation?
